Medical Education Information Technology Transformation (MEITT) Project

Temerty Medicine has partnered with LGI Healthcare Solutions to provide a new Learner Management System to replace MedSIS and POWER. The new solution for both the MD Program (MD) and Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) is LGI Education (MedSIS 3C).

Since 2022, the Medical Education Information Technology Transformation (MEITT) Steering Committee, chaired by the Vice Dean, Medical Education, and supporting working teams have had the shared project vision to consolidate existing legacy systems (MedSIS and POWER) and various fragmented IT system across MD and PGME.

The new, fully integrated system will enable core and ancillary functions of medical education while optimizing the user experience, training outcomes, operational efficiency and facilitating the collection of data to inform ongoing quality assurance and reporting.

This transformational change will be one of the largest, most complex initiatives in our faculty’s history involving MD, PGME and the clinical departments, working in close collaboration with MedIT.

Status Updates

March 2026: The second phase of the MEITT project is well underway, with teams continuing configuration activities, establishing environments, and collaborating closely across MD, PGME, and MedIT. Leadership from all three areas is actively participating in committee meetings to share progress and ongoing planning.

  • MD Program
The MD team has begun a structured engagement process with stakeholders, meeting with one business unit at a time. These sessions provide an overview of key project information, highlight new features and differences from the legacy system within each module, and gather input to inform upcoming decisions.
  • PGME Program
PGME is advancing steadily through the registration configuration and is beginning the configuration of evaluations and scheduling features. Collaboration continues with working groups to review and validate specific functionalities needed across the platform.
  • MedIT
Recruitment efforts remain ongoing to support project requirements. A Special Projects Team has been formed, bringing together members from MedIT, MD, and PGME. Work is in progress to develop a comprehensive roadmap that supports the implementation and long‑term evolution of the MEITT initiative.

January 2026: The initial phase of the implementation project has been successfully completed through a major collaboration between the MD Program, PGME, MedIT, and LGI. This phase focused on defining the project scope and finalizing the implementation plan. Based on the findings, the transition timeline has been extended to 2027 to support a smooth and effective rollout.

May 2025: Temerty Medical Education announced a strategic partnership with LGI Healthcare Solutions to launch MedSIS 3C—a unified and centralized platform for learners, faculty, and administrators. This new system will consolidate the functionalities of Power and MedSIS, with implementation planned for mid-2026.

FAQ

What is MEITT and MedSIS 3C?

MEITT (Medical Education Information Technology Transformation) is a strategic initiative to modernize our IT infrastructure and better support medical education. As part of this transformation, MedSIS 3C is being introduced—a centralized platform that replaces legacy systems (Power and MedSIS) and supports learners, faculty, and staff across the continuum of medical education.

What are the key benefits of MedSIS 3C?

  • Simplifies access with a single sign-in platform
  • Supports continuity from MD to PGME
  • Centralizes and streamlines operations
  • Improves user experience

Where will MedSIS 3C be used?

As part of this project, MedSIS 3C will be implemented for MD and PGME and their affiliated teaching hospitals to support medical education administration and learning.

When will MedSIS 3C be fully implemented?

Implementation is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with full transition expected by fall 2027.

What happens to the data in Power and MedSIS?

All relevant data is expected to be migrated to MedSIS 3C. Data integrity and privacy is a top priority throughout the transition. All historical data will be stored to ensure an accurate historical record.

Will I need to do anything to prepare for the transition to MedSIS 3C?

You’ll be informed well in advance about any steps you need to take. Training and support will be provided to make the transition as smooth as possible. Our timelines include time for training and preparation, so you’ll have enough notice and resources to feel ready.

How will I learn to use MedSIS 3C?

Training and support resources will be available to help all users become familiar with MedSIS 3C. These will include workshops, user guides, video tutorials, and access to end-user support.

Is there an opportunity to integrate MedSIS 3C with other systems?

We are exploring opportunities to integrate MedSIS 3C with other systems. While no decisions have been made yet, integration is an important consideration and will continue to be assessed as the project progresses.

How can I stay informed about this project?

As the MEITT project evolves, more specific details, including timelines, training opportunities, and system features, will be shared through regular updates on this webpage and other communication channels.
