Office of the Vice Dean, Medical Education
The Office of the Vice Dean, Medical Education was established on July 1, 2020, with a mandate to provide strategic and operational leadership for the alignment, integration and harmonization of learner supports and programs, faculty processes, and systems across the continuum of medical education. The continuum of medical education is inclusive of the full cycle of learning from application to medical school through completion of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and into lifelong continuing professional development.
The Office of the Vice Dean, Medical Education provides strategic and operational leadership and support for a larger medical education portfolio, comprised of five units:
- MD Program, including the Standardized Patient Program
- Postgraduate Medical Education
- Integrated Physician Scientist Training Program
- Office of Learner Affairs
- Continuing Professional Development
Each of these units have priorities and goals informed by and specific to their respective mandates. At the same time, we are collectively committed to ensuring the best possible learning and working experience across the continuum, informed by our shared Education Mission. This Education Mission also connects us with a larger medical education community, which is inclusive of learners, administrative staff, faculty and education leaders across Temerty Medicine and at our hospital partners.
Drawing on the unique strengths and capacities of Temerty Medicine, we are committed to working as collaborative leaders and partners to promote, advance and support alignment, integration and harmonization across the continuum as well as innovative approaches to teaching, learning and scholarship in health professions education.
Our Education Mission
In alignment with Temerty Medicine’s vision to “be an unparalleled force for new knowledge, better health and equity” and “cultivate and bring to life ideas that impact scholarship and society through unprecedented collaboration drawing in the diverse voices of our research, learning and clinical network”, the mission of the medical education portfolio is to prepare and support medical learners across the continuum to be:
