Mentorship Programs

Mentorship is a valuable part of all learners' personal and professional development. The Office of Learner Affairs (OLA) can be a resource to help connect you with peer or clinical mentors to support your goals and help build your community. This support is available to all learners supported by OLA.

For questions on finding a mentor, program development, or about any of the opportunities on this webpage, please email medicine.dmp@utoronto.ca.

OLA Learner Mentorship Database

The OLA Learner Mentorship Database aims to strengthen awareness of existing learner mentorship opportunities. It includes extracurricular formal programs, informal connection sources (e.g., lists, event series) and summer opportunities.

The opportunities listed here is based on an environmental scan of Temerty Medicine educational programs, departments and divisions, along with TAHSN hospital sites and Canadian professional associations of the U of T clinical specialties.

Please note there are many curriculum-embedded opportunities for mentorship, along with opportunities available in provincial, American, and international professional associations. Due to volume these groups were not included in the environmental scan, but learners can connect with the OLA to learn more about mentoring opportunities in particular specialties.

For inquiries, updates or additions to the OLA Learner Mentorship Database, please email medicine.dmp@utoronto.ca.

Equity mentorship

We support the administration of three equity mentorship programs. The Office of Inclusion & Diversity serves as an advisory support to these programs, along with being available as a resource to all mentee and mentor participants.

Equity mentorship is a key component of Temerty Medicine’s commitment to Excellence Through Equity. For considerations on the purpose and approaches to equity mentorship, please review this presentation from the Association of American Colleges, along with additional resources below.

Each of the tiles below is linked to more information about each program, including application links.
